Where can I get advice on tax issues, import and export duties?

Contact the Chamber directly for tax information. If you wish to know more about customs tariffs for the UK, please visit GOV.UK. Egypt's Customs tariff can be downloaded here.

What laws and regulations should I be aware of to start my business in Egypt?

If you wish to set up a business in Egypt, you need to be aware of Investment Law No. 8, Law no. 159 and its amendments. The Chamber can provide you with the required laws and regulations upon request.

Where can I go when I need my business documents translated into English or Arabic?

The Chamber offers certified translations English/Arabic and Arabic/English of all business and trade documents, as well as any other legal documents and creative content. Our certified legal translations are recognised by both governments. Please visit our Translation page for more information.

I need to travel to Egypt/the UK, who can arrange travel and accommodation for my business visit?

The Chamber offers access to corporate travel and accommodation rates for all our members. We are also able to arrange for drivers, meeting space, etc. For more information, contact our team directly.

Export Documentation

What are the legally required export documents for shipment of goods to Egypt?

Since December 2015 it is mandatory for all UK exporters to legalise their Certificate of Origin and have their local Chamber certify the corresponding invoices for for Air transport. 
For transport via Sea its a requirement to use CargoX - https://cargox.io/. Contact the chamber for more information and training. 

How long does the legalisation process take?

The process takes an average of 3 business days.

What should I do if I need to make changes to a document after it has already been legalised?

For small changes, you can use the amendment service offered by the EBCC via your local Chamber of Commerce.

Do you legalise EUR1 certificates?

EUR1 certificates are customs documents - they come pre-stamped by HMRC; no other stamps are necessary.
