Last November, Airbus issued an urgent safety directive (AOT A27N022-25) for A319, A320, and A321 aircraft following the identification of a potential fault in the ELAC B L104 flight-control computer—an issue with serious implications for pitch stability and structural integrity.
In an impressively swift response, EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) mobilised a dedicated technical team to replace all affected ELAC units across EgyptAir’s A320 fleet, as well as Air Cairo’s A320 aircraft. Through rapid coordination with Airbus, the teams achieved full compliance within hours and, remarkably, without any flight cancellations.
While many airlines around the world faced operational disruptions as they worked to meet the mandatory requirements, EgyptAir M&E delivered outstanding performance—working around the clock to deploy the necessary updates and return aircraft to service safely and efficiently, in full alignment with Airbus guidelines.
A strong testament to EgyptAir’s operational excellence, technical capability, and steadfast prioritisation of passenger safety.
